Initial Planning Phase

Initial Planning

Let’s get started!  The first order of business is to sit down with you and clarify a detailed set of design, branding and technical specifications. These specifications serve as a roadmap for the rest of the web design process. Want to get a head start?  Download our questionnaire with key questions we ask during this phase. Also, be prepared when engaging with us.

Layout Design

Mockups Review

Templates and mockups are your first chance to visualize your website layout and structure, based on your requirements. While these are not meant to be your final site, they give us a visual representation of the site's overall look-and-feel. In this phase, you'll have the opportunity to sign-off on the layout that best fits your needs and visual identity.

Initial Design & Brand Identity

Once a template and/or mockups is chosen and approved, we'll proceed with initial site design. While this won't give you the completed view of your site with all of the content, it'll provide you with a stronger visual representation of the final product. This phase will also include creating your domain name, brand identity (color palette, logo, etc.), custom theme and page designs, and setting up your site so that it can behave in the most optimal manner.  Note: if you already have a brand identity defined, then we’ll incorporate these in the site’s design and development.

Copy & Graphics

Once we've agreed on initial design and its overall direction, we will continue with a few additional details. This phase involves the creation of your site's copy and graphics, where we'll need your guidance on content updates (new and updated content) as well as graphics needed.  Note: while we don’t offer content creation services, we can assist with finding appropriate images for your site, as needed.

Customer Support

Development & Review

This phase continues with the technical side of the web design process. This includes adding final content and graphics to your site, as well as applying keywords (as needed) to ensure it's set up for search engine optimization (SEO). If you’re launching your online store (e-commerce), we’ll be adding your products and/or services. We'll also have a few review cycles with you to ensure we're meeting the mark.  We’re getting close for the launch!

Testing Phase

Testing

Once the development is complete, we’ll get to work testing your site's performance and reliability (in fact, this happens throughout the entire development process). We'll use various tools to benchmark your site for loading, responsiveness, and speed, while also ensuring that it works reliably on popular web browsers and mobile devices.

Launch Phase

Launch!

Once we're sure that your site is ready to be released to the public (meaning, we’re ready for prime time!), we'll deploy it on your public domain. At this time, we can also discuss an ongoing support engagement that could involve creating monthly backups of your site, update scripts and plugins to maintain security and reliability, and perform layout and content updates at your request.  Congrats – at this final phase, you’ve officially started your digital journey!

Ongoing Maintenance

No website is ever complete – it’s a never-ending, ever-changing activity.  In fact, as an website owner you always need to evolve it to remain relevant and have your competitive advantage.  This is an ongoing phase where we handle the maintenance of your website and provide top support based on your needs.  Check out our web maintenance model for more details.
